GVC are assisting a busy, well-established small animal practice in Romford with the recruitment of an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their Out of Hours team.

With a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, this is an opportunity to enjoy extended time away from work while remaining clinically challenged and developing your emergency medicine skills.

🌙 The Role & Rota

• Part-time position working 7 nights on, followed by 14 nights off.

• Monday–Friday: 8pm–8:15am.

• Weekends: 6pm–9am.

• Dedicated night team providing continuous 24/7 onsite patient care.

• Competitive salary of up to £80,000 (not pro rata).

🏥 The Practice

You’ll be joining an established clinical team of 14 Veterinary Surgeons and 18 Veterinary Nurses, with a wealth of experience and individual interests across medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics.

The purpose-built practice boasts excellent facilities, including:

• Two dedicated operating theatres.

• Ultrasound and digital radiography.

• In-house laboratory.

• Full endoscopy facilities.

• Access to CT at one of the branches.

• Dedicated onsite day and night teams.

The varied caseload provides excellent exposure to emergency and critical care cases, supported by a highly experienced wider clinical team.

🩺 About You

This opportunity would suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident managing emergency cases independently and enjoys the challenges of out-of-hours work.

You’ll need:

• Existing UK veterinary experience.

• Confidence working sole charge.

• Competence in most emergency surgical procedures.

• Strong diagnostic and medical skills.

• Excellent communication and client care skills.

• A flexible, proactive approach and genuine passion for clinical excellence.
