Why We Started GVC Cares
GVC Cares came about when we started to consider how we could give back to the industry we care so deeply about. We looked at fundraising efforts and other charitable initiatives, but we wanted to create something that would have a real and lasting impact.
For us, that meant focusing on what we know best – recruitment – and using the strengths, networks, and relationships we’ve built over the years to make a difference where it’s needed most. There are so many incredible charities and organisations doing vital work for animals, yet many face the same staffing challenges that impact the wider veterinary profession.
Through GVC Cares, we aim to use our expertise to help bridge that gap – supporting charities, shelters, and welfare groups who need veterinary professionals to continue their mission. Because ultimately, that’s what drives all of us: improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
As GVC has grown across the UK, USA, and Australia, so has our sense of responsibility to the people and animals we serve. We’ve seen the challenges firsthand – the workforce shortages, the burnout, the compassion fatigue. And we’ve also seen the extraordinary dedication that keeps the industry moving forward.
GVC Cares is our way of supporting that resilience: by reinvesting time, skills, and resources into causes that matter.

Through GVC Cares, we aim to strengthen the connection between recruitment and responsibility.
How GVC Cares Works
GVC Cares operates like any other GVC division. You get the full 360 recruiting services and delivery but with one crucial difference: no fees, no commissions, and no agenda beyond making an impact.
It’s a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) veterinary recruitment initiative within GVC focused on non-commercial animal welfare causes and voluntary missions, connecting skilled veterinary professionals with the organisations that need them most. From wildlife rescue centres and neutering missions to NGOs and sanctuaries, GVC Cares helps bridge the gap between talent and purpose-driven work.
The team provides full recruitment support – sourcing, vetting, onboarding, advertising and guidance – so that animal welfare organisations can focus on their mission, not their manpower.
And for veterinary professionals, it’s a chance to use their skills in a new way: whether through volunteering, short-term placements, or permanent roles that combine career and cause.
We’re proud to offer tangible support in areas where staffing gaps can mean the difference between animals receiving care or being turned away.
