GVC are delighted to be assisting a well-established small animal practice in the Southend area with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet looking for their next step, with the chance to take ownership of their own caseload, develop their surgical skills and become an important part of a friendly and experienced team.

🐾 About the Practice

The practice is a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal surgery located close to Southend, offering excellent transport links and easy access to the surrounding coastal areas.

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and management, with a strong focus on providing high-quality clinical care while maintaining a positive and enjoyable working environment.

The practice is well equipped with modern facilities, including:

  • Brand-new ultrasound machine with four probes
  • Endoscope
  • In-house laboratory
  • X-ray
  • Dental equipment

👩‍⚕️ About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident managing their own caseload and working independently.

This role would particularly suit someone with strong surgical skills who enjoys a varied GP caseload and is keen to continue developing their clinical abilities.

You'll need:

  • RCVS registration
  • Previous experience working as a Veterinary Surgeon
  • Strong surgical skills
  • Confidence working sole charge and managing your own caseload
  • A genuine passion for small animal practice
  • Excellent communication and client-care skills
  • A positive and supportive approach to teamwork
  • A willingness to continue developing your clinical skills

An interest or experience in dentistry would be advantageous, with the practice happy to support someone looking to develop this area further.

🕐 Hours

  • Full-time – 40 hours per week
  • 9am–7:30pm, including Saturdays
  • No OOH

💰 Salary & Benefits

£60,000–£80,000 DOE / FTE
