A brand new veterinary practice is opening, creating an opportunity for an experienced Head Nurse to build and lead a nursing team from the ground up.

You will play a key role in setting clinical standards, developing team capability, and ensuring nursing skills are fully utilised and recognised.

  • Oversee nurse-led clinics, inpatient care and theatre protocols
  • Maximise utilisation of nursing skills, including Schedule 3 procedures
  • Support student nurses and contribute to clinical coaching
  • Help establish team culture and operational workflows

This is a leadership role with both clinical and operational influence.

Working pattern:

  • Full-time rota including evenings and weekends (typically 4 x 9-hour days)
  • 1 in 4 weekend rotation
  • Average 39-hour working week
  • Participation in duty nurse nights (accommodation provided where required)
  • Flexible working options may be considered

Benefits:

Professional & financial:

  • Competitive salary from £34,000
  • Funded professional fees
  • CPD support and ongoing development opportunities
  • Income protection
  • Recognition initiatives

Wellbeing & lifestyle:

  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

About the practice:
This opportunity sits within a well established, independently owned veterinary group with a national presence. Practices are modern, well equipped, and designed to support both clinical excellence and a positive working environment.

There is a strong focus on team development, collaboration, and creating workplaces where individuals feel supported and engaged.

About you:

  • Qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Committed to high standards of patient care
  • Strong team player with collaborative approach
  • Confident and compassionate communicator
  • Motivated to fully utilise and develop clinical skills
  • Proactive, adaptable and positive mindset

This role would suit someone who is motivated by the opportunity to build something new and have a meaningful impact from the outset.
