Head Veterinary Nurse – Oxford 📍

GVC are assisting a brand-new, beautifully designed veterinary clinic in Oxford, which opened its doors this August and is quite literally sparkling new! ✨

The team is growing, and they are looking for an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join them on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who enjoys taking the lead, supporting a team and helping shape the way a brand-new practice operates.

The current team consists of a the owner, Vet surgeon and two RVNs, with recruitment underway for a third RVN. You'll play an important role in supporting the nursing team and helping establish the clinic as it continues to grow.

The position is initially a 12-month maternity cover, with the potential for the successful candidate to remain with the practice permanently as an RVN at the end of the contract.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and supporting the nursing team
• Helping maintain high clinical and nursing standards
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the clinic
• Working alongside the Branch Partner and growing veterinary team
• Contributing to the development of this exciting new practice
• Continuing to work clinically alongside your leadership responsibilities

Hours & Benefits

Salary: Up to £40,000
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: 12-month fixed term
Start: ASAP

Typical shifts include:

• 8:30am–7:30pm
• 8:30am–5:00pm
• 9:30am–6:00pm
• 11:00am–7:30pm

Weekend shifts are generally 8 hours, either 7:30am–4:00pm or 11:00am–8:00pm, with some flexibility around these.

There is 1 in 6 weekend cover at the Hospital site, with time back in lieu when worked.

About You

We're looking for an experienced RVN who is confident clinically and ready to take on a leadership opportunity.

You may already be working as an HRVN, or you could be an experienced RVN looking for your first step into a leadership role.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent nursing standards and wants to be part of something from the very beginning.
