An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly and well-equipped small animal practice in Acton, Greater London. This position is ideal for an experienced RVN who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys driving clinical standards, mentoring others, and delivering exceptional patient and client care.
The Role:
As Head Nurse, you’ll take responsibility for the clinical leadership of the nursing team, ensuring the highest levels of care, compliance, and operational excellence. You’ll play a key role in shaping the clinic’s standards and supporting both your nursing colleagues and veterinary surgeons in delivering outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide exceptional clinical care for patients during procedures and nurse-led appointments

Support veterinary surgeons during operations and procedures

Manage patient admissions, discharges, and medication dispensing

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
-
Lead daily briefings and ensure smooth day-to-day clinic operations

Coach and develop the nursing team, promoting nurse-led clinics and Schedule 3 procedures

Ensure compliance with RCVS, health and safety, and internal practice standards

Manage stock control and laboratory procedures efficiently
Requirements:

RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse (essential)

Confident leading, mentoring, and developing a clinical team

Experience in delivering high-quality patient and client care
-
Skilled in planning, organisation, and communication

Positive and proactive team player with strong leadership skills
-
Willing to work weekends as part of the rota
