Veterinary Surgeon (Hospital & Inpatient Care) – South Wales | Up to £65,000 DOE
An established veterinary hospital in South Wales is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its hospital team. This role is ideal for a vet who enjoys managing inpatients, complex medical cases and emergency admissions while maintaining variety through surgery and some consulting work.
The Role
- Up to 36 hours per week across 4 days
- Majority hospital-based with a focus on inpatient care and case continuity
- Opportunities for surgery, diagnostics and first-opinion consulting
- 1 in 5 weekends (9-hour shift)
- 1 bank holiday shift per year
- No sole charge

What You'll Be Doing
- Managing hospitalised and emergency patients
- Working up complex medical cases
- Developing treatment plans and overseeing patient care from admission to discharge
- Performing soft tissue surgery
- Collaborating with experienced clinicians and nursing teams
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues where appropriate

This busy 24/7 veterinary hospital handles a diverse and interesting caseload, supported by advanced facilities including CT, ultrasonography, dedicated emergency and inpatient wards, orthopaedic and soft tissue theatres, exotic animal facilities, endosurgery equipment, a modern dental suite and a comprehensive in-house laboratory.
The Candidate
- Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical decision-making skills
- Confident managing cases independently within a collaborative team environment
- Interest in medicine, ECC, surgery or diagnostics welcomed
