Availability: Flexible few-hour windows across multiple days per week | No on-call system
Rest Your Paws is New Zealand’s leading in-home palliative care and euthanasia service, dedicated to providing compassionate and meaningful end-of-life experiences for pets and their families. Due to growing demand, we are expanding across New Zealand and are seeking caring, motivated Veterinarians to join our team in multiple regions.
About the Role
We are currently growing our presence nationwide and are welcoming expressions of interest from veterinarians across New Zealand, including both metropolitan and regional areas.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in palliative care, client communication, and education. This role is highly flexible and can be structured around your existing commitments.
There is also the option for a full-time salaried position, which may initially include a focus on business development, education, and Lunch & Learn sessions with local clinics while caseload builds within your region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide in-home euthanasia and optional palliative care consultations
• Guide families through end-of-life discussions with empathy and professionalism
• Build relationships with local veterinary clinics and contribute to education initiatives
• Represent Rest Your Paws’ mission and values within your local veterinary community
• Optional participation in outreach, education, and community awareness initiatives
Requirements
• BVSc or equivalent with full NZ veterinary registration
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
• Excellent emotional intelligence and communication skills
• Confidence working independently with remote team support
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
