Rest Your Paws is a leading in-home palliative care and euthanasia service, helping families say goodbye in the comfort of home with dignity, compassion, and support.

We are currently expanding into Dunedin and are seeking a caring and motivated Veterinarian to help establish and grow the service in the region.

About the Role:
This role involves providing in-home euthanasia and optional palliative care consultations within your local area. As a new and developing region, this is a great opportunity for a vet who enjoys autonomy and is interested in building a meaningful service within their local community.

This is a slower, more intentional pace compared to traditional general practice, with a strong focus on client connection, patient comfort, and delivering a calm end-of-life experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-home euthanasia services with empathy and professionalism
  • Support families through end-of-life decision-making
  • Deliver palliative care support where appropriate
  • Work independently while supported by a national team
  • Contribute to building awareness and presence of the service locally

Requirements:

  • BVSc or equivalent and eligible for veterinary registration in New Zealand
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience
  • Calm, empathetic communication style
  • Confidence working independently
  • Full driver’s licence and reliable vehicle

What’s on Offer:

  • Paid per visit
  • Flexible and autonomous schedule
  • Opportunity to help establish and grow a new region
  • Full onboarding and training
  • Equipment, insurance, and admin support provided
  • Ongoing mentorship and professional development
