Are you an experienced veterinarian ready to step into a supportive leadership role while remaining hands-on clinically?

We’re looking for a warm, capable Lead Veterinarian to join a well-established small animal practice in Cleveland. You’ll lead a close-knit team, help drive the clinic forward and enjoy the support of an experienced Practice Manager and Lead Vets across two sister clinics.

About the Clinic

The Cleveland clinic is part of a group of three small animal general practices across South-East Queensland, with additional locations in Nundah and New Farm.

The clinic has a supportive 2.5 FTE veterinary team, experienced nurses and a dedicated Practice Manager. It is well equipped with:

• Digital general and dental X-ray
• Ultrasound
• IDEXX in-house analysers
• ezyVet practice-management software

The varied caseload includes preventative healthcare, medical cases, dentistry, diagnostic imaging and routine surgery. More complex procedures can be performed in-house by an external specialist surgeon.

The wider group is genuinely focused on its clients, patients and people, with continued investment in professional development, mentorship, equipment and clinical improvement.

The Role

This position can be offered part-time or full-time, working between 60 and 76 hours per fortnight.

The roster includes:

• Four working days per week
• Hours of 8:00am–6:00pm
• A regular RDO
• One Saturday morning in three, from 8:00am–1:00pm
• No after-hours work

Alongside consulting and surgery, you’ll provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the veterinary team. You’ll work closely with the Practice Manager to support clinic performance, strengthen team culture and continue building the practice.

Your clinical caseload will include medicine, preventative care, dentistry and dental X-rays, general radiography, desexing, lumpectomies and other routine procedures.

About You

You will ideally bring:

• A Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
• Five or more years of small animal general practice experience
• Strong all-round medical and surgical skills
• Previous leadership, mentoring or team-support experience
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
• A positive, collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for developing the clinic and its team

Ultrasound or orthopaedic experience would be highly regarded but is not essential. A commercial mindset and some understanding of clinic finances would also be beneficial, with support available to develop these areas.
