Global Veterinary Careers is supporting a highly regarded, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in Portland that is seeking an experienced Medical Lead Veterinarian to guide clinical standards, mentor associate veterinarians, and drive continued medical excellence.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range of $140,000–$180,000
• Monthly production bonus with no negative accrual

Leadership Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop associate veterinarians
• Conduct performance reviews and support individual development goals
• Set and uphold medical standards and best practices
• Serve as a role model for clinical excellence and client service
• Collaborate with practice leadership on operational and financial performance
• Participate in hospital planning and performance management
• Ensure compliance with medical, DEA, and regulatory requirements
• Lead regular doctor meetings focused on growth and medical standards
• Support recruitment, externships, and mentorship programmes
• Act as a clinical ambassador within the local community

• Maintain an active clinical caseload alongside leadership duties
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based veterinary medicine

Candidate Requirements

• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
• Active Oregon veterinary license or ability to obtain
• Minimum of 2 years clinical veterinary experience
• Strong leadership and mentorship capability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in clinical leadership and hospital growth
• Willingness to engage with operational and financial aspects of practice
