Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Cheshire

Salary up to £73,000 (depending on experience)

My client in Cheshire is looking for an experienced and inspiring Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for both people and pets to take on a Lead Vet role at a busy 24/7 hospital.

In this role, you’ll lead and support a dedicated team of vets, guiding them to deliver outstanding clinical standards and compassionate care. You’ll also play an active part in mentoring, coaching, and developing the wider clinical team.

Working closely with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse, you’ll help shape the day-to-day operations of the hospital, review key performance indicators, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice.

About the Role

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week, typically across 4 days

  • Weekend rota: 1 in 3 weekends (2:9 rotation)

  • Balanced mix of clinical and leadership responsibilities

About You

  • A confident, compassionate Veterinary Surgeon with excellent clinical skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Passionate about coaching and mentoring other vets

  • Comfortable with leadership responsibilities, including 1-2-1s and performance management

  • VetGDP qualification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Interest in business performance, KPIs, and clinical governance (experience beneficial but not essential)
