Love true mixed practice and country living?

Imagine finishing a morning pregnancy testing cattle, heading back to the clinic for surgery, then spending your afternoon enjoying everything country Queensland has to offer.

We're representing a well-established mixed animal practice in Queensland's North Burnett that is looking for another veterinarian to join its friendly team. With a genuine 60% large animal and 40% small animal caseload, this is an opportunity to enjoy the variety of mixed practice while working alongside experienced vets who genuinely enjoy supporting one another.

If you're looking for a role where you'll continue learning, have access to excellent equipment, and enjoy a lifestyle that gives you time outside of work, this could be exactly what you're looking for.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary well above award, dependent on experience
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Option of a 4-day working week
  • Shared after-hours roster (1 in 4 weekends)
  • Generous CPD allowance plus conference leave
  • AVA and Special Interest Group memberships
  • Strong mentorship and clinical support
  • Opportunity to develop your interests in reproduction, medicine or surgery
  • Fully equipped farm vehicle provided
  • Excellent work-life balance in a welcoming rural community

The Clinic

This established mixed practice is home to a team of six veterinarians who work closely together to deliver high-quality care across the North Burnett region.

Their caseload offers genuine variety, including cattle herd health, equine work, reproduction, medicine, surgery and preventative care for companion animals. The team prides itself on being approachable, collaborative and supportive, creating an environment where vets enjoy coming to work and feel comfortable asking questions or discussing cases.

The clinic is exceptionally well equipped, with access to:

  • Species-specific ultrasound machines
  • Digital radiography
  • Imagyst Cytology
  • Equine gastroscope
  • Power floats
  • Orthopaedic equipment
  • Mobile crush facilities
  • Canine TCI equipment
  • Extensive bovine and equine reproductive equipment

Their vets are also BULLCHECK® and PREGCHECK® accredited, providing excellent opportunities to expand your skills in livestock reproduction.

The Role

This is a genuine mixed practice position with approximately 60% large animal and 40% small animal work.

Your days could include:

  • Beef cattle herd health and pregnancy testing
  • Equine dentistry and ambulatory work
  • AI, embryo transfer and breeding soundness examinations
  • Small animal consultations
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Medical work-ups
  • Emergency cases as they arise
  • Building long-term relationships with loyal farming and companion animal clients

The practice encourages vets to pursue the areas they enjoy most while maintaining the variety that makes mixed practice so rewarding.

About You

You'll be someone who enjoys the diversity of mixed practice and values being part of a supportive team.

You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised Veterinary degree eligible for registration in Australia
  • Full working rights in Australia, or eligibility for registration if relocating
  • An interest in both large and small animal practice
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support your colleagues
  • A desire to continue learning and developing your clinical skills

Whether you're an experienced mixed practitioner or looking to continue growing your confidence with excellent support around you, we'd love to hear from you.

Ready for Your Next Chapter?

If you're looking for a mixed practice where you'll be challenged, supported and genuinely enjoy coming to work, we'd love to tell you more.
