Night Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – Somerset Veterinary Hospital

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night RVN to join a thriving veterinary hospital in Somerset, providing exceptional patient care as part of a supportive out-of-hours team.

The Role

This full-time Night RVN position is based within a well-equipped veterinary hospital, working alongside an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon and supported by a twilight team member.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and caring for hospitalised inpatients overnight
• Assisting with emergency and out-of-hours consultations
• Preparing patients for emergency surgery
• Delivering and monitoring anaesthesia
• Supporting emergency and critical care cases
• Maintaining high standards of infection control and patient welfare
• Working collaboratively within a dedicated overnight team

The hospital sees a diverse and rewarding caseload, including:

• Trauma cases
• Toxicity and poisoning presentations
• Blocked bladders
• Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV)
• Emergency Caesarean sections
• Critical care and complex medical cases

Working Pattern

This role offers an attractive rolling rota designed to maximise time off:

• 4 nights on, 7 nights off
• 3 nights on, 7 nights off
• Shift times: 7:00pm – 8:30am

Previous emergency or out-of-hours experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
