Looking for something a little different? This could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Would you thrive with genuine autonomy in your veterinary work, enjoy an exceptional work-life balance and love the idea of living on the beautiful island of Guernsey?
Due to continued growth and expansion, GVC are supporting this established practice with the recruitment of a Night Veterinary Surgeon. It's an exciting time to join, with a brand-new practice due to open in January 2027, pending hospital status.
Joining now means you'll become part of an established and supportive team while also having the opportunity to help shape the future of an expanding veterinary service.
The Role
This role offers an exceptional work-life balance, with a 7 nights on / 14 nights off rota, working from 6:15pm to 8:15am.
When you're not working, you'll have two full weeks to enjoy everything Guernsey has to offer — from beautiful beaches and coastal walks to watersports, boat trips and outdoor adventures.
The role is primarily focused on small animal work, within a practice that is approximately 95% companion animal. Candidates with large animal experience are also encouraged to get in touch.
You'll have the autonomy to work confidently overnight, alongside excellent support from a large and friendly wider team.
What's on Offer?
- Up to £1,500 relocation support
- Accommodation typically provided for the first 6 months, subject to availability
- 7 nights on / 14 nights off
- 6:15pm – 8:15am night shifts
- Competitive salary and excellent benefits
- Excellent clinical support
- Predominantly small animal caseload
- Opportunity to help shape the development of a growing veterinary service
An Exciting Time to Join
The practice is currently undergoing a significant period of growth, investment and expansion, with a brand-new facility at Garenne Park due to open in January 2027, pending hospital status.
The new practice is set to include:
- 6 consulting rooms
- 4 operating theatres
- Dedicated dog and cat waiting areas
- Modern hospitalisation facilities and kennels
- Dedicated cattery
- CT and X-ray facilities
- Dental facilities
- Space allocated for MRI
- Dedicated equine facilities and stabling
- 24-hour veterinary care
You'll be joining at an exciting stage and will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the new practice and its services.
About the Practice
You'll be joining a busy, RCVS-accredited first opinion practice with an experienced veterinary team, including several certificate holders.
The vets are supported by skilled RVNs, reception and administration colleagues, creating a collaborative environment where high-quality patient care is at the heart of everything they do.
The practice is well equipped to investigate and treat a wide range of medical and surgical cases, particularly important given the geographical limitations around referral from the island.
