Night Veterinary Surgeon (Fixed Term, 12 Months) – Wimbledon

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced ECC Veterinary Surgeon to join a respected 24-hour hospital team in South West London, covering a 12-month fixed term contract while one of the night team takes parental leave.

The Role

• Contract: 12-month fixed term – and can then explore other opportunities.

• Rotation: 4 nights on / 17 nights off

• Average hours: 17 per week on average 

• Shift times: Start at 7.30 pm

• Salary: £30,200–£41,000 (equivalent to £70,000–£95,000 FTE, DOE)

This is a well-balanced ECC position providing emergency and inpatient care for first-opinion and referral cases across the region. The hospital handles a varied caseload, from routine procedures and emergencies to specialist referrals in orthopaedics, soft tissue, cardiology, and physiotherapy.

You’ll be supported by an experienced registered veterinary nurse on site for every waking night shift, with access to a daytime clinical management team for ongoing guidance. Accommodation can also be provided during on-nights if required.

About You

You’ll be a confident and capable ECC vet, comfortable managing emergency cases, critical care patients, and performing emergency surgery when required. Previous experience working in a hospital or OOH setting is essential, along with excellent communication and decision-making skills.
