Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon – Emergency & Critical Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive Out of Hours service in Leicester. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in emergency and critical care, who enjoys managing medical and surgical emergencies within a balanced and well-supported rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency and critical care to pets during Out of Hours shifts
- Manage a consistent rota of seven nights on followed by fourteen nights off, allowing for excellent work-life balance
- Competently handle sole charge emergency cases, including soft tissue surgery
- Guide and support veterinary students who may occasionally assist with OOH cases
- Deliver care guided by patient needs, ensuring safe and pragmatic clinical decision-making
- Work collaboratively within a friendly, welcoming team environment
Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Competent in emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery
- Confident in sole charge situations
- Motivated to support and mentor veterinary students
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Salary: £69,086–£83,448 (including allowances, pro rata)
- 33.41 hours per week on a permanent contract
