OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse – 3 on, 7 off, 4 on, 7 off

A Veterinary Hospital in SW London are recruiting for an OOH RVN to join their night team on a permanent basis. You’ll be working in a true 24-hour hospital environment, alongside an experienced on-site vet, with a varied caseload including emergency and critical care.

The Hospital
The hospital is an RCVS Accredited Veterinary Hospital with an excellent reputation and a genuinely well-rounded caseload. Alongside its own first opinion clients, the hospital supports surrounding practices with internal referrals that require hospital-level expertise.

You’ll also be part of a site that provides access to specialist-level work, including support from:

• Orthopaedic & soft tissue surgeon
• Cardiologist
• Physiotherapist

And for cat lovers this hospital holds the ISFM Silver Award for Cat Friendly Clinics.

The Role
This is a hands-on night nursing role where you’ll be fully utilised across triage, inpatient care, procedures, theatre support and client communication.

Typical duties include:

• Triage and prioritisation of incoming emergencies
• Inpatient nursing care and ward management overnight
• Theatre and procedure assistance where required
• Maintaining accurate hospitalisation and patient records
• Monitoring patient comfort, welfare and recovery
• Cleaning, sterilising, packing and storing equipment correctly
• Supporting client updates and telephone triage appropriately
• Using your Schedule 3 skills

You’ll be supported by an experienced on-site veterinary surgeon during shifts, with access to the clinical management team if you need input during the day.

Hours & Shift Pattern
A unique and attractive rota designed for proper downtime:

• Rotation: 3 nights on / 7 nights off, then 4 nights on / 7 nights off
• Average hours: 30.33 hours per week
• Shift times: 7:00pm – 8:00am

Salary
£28,000 – £34,000 for the rota above
(Equivalent to £38,000 – £45,000 FTE based on a 40-hour week)
DOE with room to grow within the role.

About You
You’ll be:

• A Registered Veterinary Nurse 
• Confident working in an ECC/hospital environment
• Comfortable managing night cases and ward nursing, alongside your vet
• Calm, organised and committed to high clinical standards overnight
