An established small animal veterinary clinic in Melbourne’s northern suburbs is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations and support a high-performing clinical team.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys balancing people leadership, operational management, and financial performance within a busy, well-run practice. Working closely with the clinical leadership team, you will play a key role in driving team engagement, client experience, and overall clinic success.

This is primarily a Monday–Friday position, offering stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to take ownership of clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff
  • Oversee daily operations including rostering, stock control, systems, and compliance
  • Manage financial performance, including budgets, KPIs, reporting, and cost control
  • Drive a high standard of client service and experience
  • Manage HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
  • Handle client feedback and complaints professionally
  • Partner with clinical leaders to align operational and clinical priorities

About You:

  • 1–2+ years’ experience in a Practice Manager or similar leadership role
  • Veterinary industry experience required (nursing background highly regarded)
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent experience
  • Confident people leader with a coaching and mentoring style
  • Strong financial acumen across budgets, KPIs, and business performance
  • Experience in HR, recruitment, and team development
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Familiarity with practice management systems (e.g. EzyVet)
  • Solid understanding of compliance, WHS, and operational best practice

What’s on Offer:

  • Support from an experienced regional leadership team
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Access to a broader network of veterinary professionals
  • Health and wellbeing support, including EAP and mental health initiatives
  • Additional benefits including retail discounts and pet care perks

This is a great opportunity for an experienced veterinary leader looking to take the next step in a supportive, well-structured environment.
