GVC are assisting a very busy, RCVS accredited first opinion and referral practice in recruiting a Part-Time Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).
The team includes a large number of vets, RVNs and ACAs, plus a dedicated out-of-hours team at the main hospital and 8 branches in the surrounding area. The nursing team is exceptionally strong, with a mix of ACAs, SVNs, RVNs and certificate/diploma-holding RVNs.
They are now looking for another outstanding RVN to join their wonderful team.
The Role
This is a part-time RVN position supporting a hospital and out-of-hours caseload, with the opportunity to pick up additional holiday cover shifts if desired. The role is a combination of OOH shifts and rotational hospital shifts.
Key responsibilities include:
- High-quality inpatient care
- Handling out-of-hours calls
- Theatre nursing (first opinion and referral)
- Consulting and triage
- Assisting in theatre and supporting clinical workflows
- Maintaining high standards of infection control
(This list isn’t exhaustive—there’s a wide and varied caseload.)
The Candidate
The ideal RVN will have:
- Excellent inpatient care skills
- Solid anaesthesia experience and knowledge
- A genuine passion for emergency/OOH care and varied casework
- Strong communication skills
- A willingness to teach and support Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs)
Hours & Shift Pattern (32 hours/week)
Week 1
- Mon: 8:30am – 6:30pm (Day)
- Thurs: 8:00pm – 8:00am (Night)
- Fri: 8:00pm – 8:00am (Night)
Week 2
- Fri: 8:30am – 6:30pm
- Sat: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
- Sun: 8:00am – 8:00pm
Bank Holidays: Minimum 1 per year, shared on a rota basis.
