Senior Mixed Veterinarian | Townsville, QLD | Up to $150K + Super
Townsville, QLD, 4811, Australia
Looking for a genuinely mixed role where no two days are the same?
Want to work with everything from small animals and reproduction work through to advanced equine referral cases, while still having time to enjoy life outside of work?
A client we are representing in Townsville is looking for an experienced Mixed Veterinarian to join their long-standing, purpose-built mixed practice.
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly regarded team in North Queensland that offers an incredible variety of work across small animal, equine, reproduction, and small ruminant caseloads.
About the Clinic
This well-established mixed practice operates across approximately 45% small animal and 45% equine, with the remainder made up of small ruminants and reproduction work.
The clinic is known for offering a level of medicine and surgery that is hard to find elsewhere in the region. They also provide a respected equine referral and second-opinion service, supported by a specialist equine surgeon on site.
You will be joining a collaborative team of 7 vets, supported by 9–10 experienced nurses and support staff. It is a team that enjoys working together, values high clinical standards, and genuinely supports each other.
The clinic has the ability to hospitalise up to 16 horses and includes a dedicated isolation unit for contagious cases.
The Role
Your caseload will include:
- Small animal medicine and surgery
- Equine hospital and ambulatory work
- Small ruminants
- Equine referral and second-opinion cases

This is a full-time role across a 4-day week, with a shared 1:4 on-call weekend rota and generally 1–2 nights per week on call.
Importantly, after an on-call weekend you will enjoy a rostered 4-day weekend, because good vets need proper downtime too.

- 4-day working week
- Shared 1:4 weekend rota
- Overtime accrued as time off in lieu, often adding an extra couple of weeks leave each year

- Modern facilities including digital radiography, advanced ultrasound, arthroscopy, endoscopy, orthopaedics, ASIF instrumentation and in-house laboratory equipment
- Flexible start date available for the right person
What They’re Looking For
- Minimum 4–5 years’ experience preferred
- A veterinarian who enjoys variety and mixed practice work
- Someone confident with both small animal and equine caseloads
- A team player who values collaboration and high standards
