Role
A well‑established independent small animal practice in North West London is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon on a permanent basis. This is a senior, hands‑on clinical role offering the opportunity to play a key part in shaping clinical standards while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day casework.
You will work alongside a team of typically 3–4 vets, supporting colleagues and helping to guide the daily organisation of the practice. This role would suit a confident all‑rounder who enjoys clinical leadership, continuity of care, and a high standard of client communication.
Practice
This is a progressive, forward‑thinking independent practice with a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and team development. The clinic is exceptionally well equipped and continues to invest heavily in technology and facilities to support high‑quality patient care.
Current and planned facilities include advanced endoscopy and arthroscopy, ultrasound, digital direct X‑ray, in‑house laboratory diagnostics, with CT imaging and physiotherapy facilities planned.
The practice is supported by a highly qualified nursing team, including multiple RVNs with advanced qualifications, nurse technicians, and a strong VCA support structure, creating a calm and well‑run clinical environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS‑registered Veterinary Surgeon with senior‑level experience in first‑opinion small animal practice. You will be confident, efficient, and professional, with the ability to communicate empathetically with a diverse client base.
Key requirements include:
- Strong internal medicine capability
- Experience in diagnostic imaging, including competence performing heart scans (no cardiology certificate required)
- Confident with routine soft tissue surgery (advanced surgery not required)
- Excellent case management, follow‑up, and continuity of care
- Organised, calm under pressure, and able to lead by example
Rota & Work‑Life Balance
- 40 hours per week on a flexible rota
- 1 in 4 Saturdays (8:30am–5:00pm)
- No routine on‑call or out‑of‑hours work
- Optional follow‑up of your own critical cases if desired (paid or TOIL)
- Supportive and flexible approach to annual leave, including longer breaks
Benefits
- Salary: £70,000 – £90,000 DOE
- £1,500 CPD allowance plus paid CPD leave
