Salary: £41,064–£58,225 per annum | Full Time | 35 Hours per Week | Open-Ended Contract
Are you a residency-trained Veterinary Anaesthetist looking to join a leading referral and teaching hospital in Scotland? This is an exciting opportunity to deliver specialist anaesthesia services within a busy, multidisciplinary small animal hospital while contributing to clinical teaching and research excellence.

The Role
As a Clinician in Veterinary Anaesthesia, you will:
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality anaesthesia service within a busy Small Animal Hospital setting.
- Provide expert advice to referring practices and support referral case management.
- Contribute to the development of innovative diagnostic and treatment approaches.
- Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance initiatives.
- Take part in the out-of-hours rota to ensure specialist-level support.
- Supervise and mentor clinical scholars and support their Board exam preparation.
- Engage with national and international anaesthesia bodies.
- Promote and develop the anaesthesia service through professional activities.
Teaching
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching.
- Contribute to curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
- Participate in assessments and provide constructive feedback to students.
Clinical Research & Scholarship
- Collaborate on clinical research projects.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to evidence-based medicine.
- Present at national and international conferences.
Administration
- Support service promotion through conferences and digital platforms.
- Contribute to departmental and school-level administrative activities.
About You
Essential
- Veterinary degree registerable with the RCVS.
- Completion of a recognised anaesthesia residency training programme.
- Postgraduate clinical experience in veterinary anaesthesia.
- Evidence of clinical publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to provide specialist-level veterinary care in a referral setting.

- PhD or formal research training.
- Teaching qualification.
- Undergraduate teaching experience.
- Strong presentation and IT skills.
