Looking to step into a true clinical leadership role where culture, collaboration, and high-level medicine genuinely matter?
Interested in shaping the future of a hospital with long-term plans for critical care and advanced case management?

A client we are representing is seeking an experienced Veterinary Director to lead their newly built Southside hospital. This is a rare opportunity for a senior veterinarian with some exposure to emergency and critical care, who is excited by the idea of building capability, mentoring teams, and elevating clinical standards.

🩺 The Role

As Veterinary Director, you’ll provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction, while remaining hands-on in practice. You’ll play a key role in shaping the hospital’s progression toward managing more complex and critical care cases.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Clinical leadership and mentoring of veterinarians across experience levels

  • Supporting the development of critical care and complex medical capabilities

  • Leading by example in high-quality medicine and patient care

  • Collaborating with vets who hold special interest areas

  • Contributing to long-term hospital planning and growth

  • Supporting a positive, values-led culture where teams feel genuinely supported

This role suits someone who enjoys being a clinical leader, not just a manager.

🏥 The Hospital & Network

  • Newly refurbished, modern hospital with long-term Critical Care plans

  • Part of a well-established network of 13 hospitals, allowing for:

    • Collaboration across special interest areas

    • Shared knowledge on complex and unusual cases

    • Minimal need for external referrals due to strong internal capability

  • In-house services include:

    • Ultrasound & advanced imaging

    • Radiology & internal laboratory

    • Endoscopy

    • Advanced orthopaedics

    • In-depth medical and diagnostic workups

🌱 Culture, Development & Support

  • Strong focus on culture, wellbeing, and team support

  • Access to a CPD-approved internal conference

  • Ongoing peer connection through internal vet networks

  • Access to VIN

  • Employee Assistance Program with confidential counselling support

  • Structured support programs for early-career vets, allowing senior vets to focus on mentorship rather than constant firefighting

👩‍⚕️ About You

  • Senior small animal veterinarian with leadership experience

  • Exposure to or strong interest in Critical Care

  • Confident mentoring and guiding veterinary teams

  • Values collaboration, culture, and clinical excellence

  • Interested in shaping a hospital’s long-term clinical direction

💼 What’s on Offer

  • Senior leadership position with genuine influence

  • Opportunity to help build a hospital’s critical care capability

  • Strong internal referral pathways and advanced facilities

  • Supportive, values-driven organisation

  • Attractive remuneration package reflective of experience

If you’re considering your next step into Veterinary Leadership and would like to explore a role where smart minds, strong culture, and advanced medicine come together, I’d love to have a confidential conversation.
