About Global Veterinary Careers

Founded in 2018, Global Veterinary Careers (GVC) is a specialist veterinary recruitment business operating primarily across the UK, Australia, and the United States. We exist to connect exceptional veterinary professionals with the right opportunities, and to raise the standard of what recruitment looks like in our industry.

We are building a high-performance business grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and genuine service. We are not the right fit for everyone; and we mean that as a compliment to the people who thrive here.

The Role

This is a full 360 Recruiter position. You will own the full recruitment cycle, from building and maintaining a client base to sourcing, engaging, and placing top veterinary talent. You will be expected to build a full-service recruiting desk, not just fill vacancies.

You will work a specialist market, develop deep sector knowledge, and be known by clients and candidates alike as a trusted figure in the industry and someone who delivers.

This role is suited to someone who is motivated by results, comfortable with accountability, and wants to build a career with genuine progression, not just a job with a commission structure attached.

How We Work

GVC is an environment built to push people. We believe the most meaningful growth happens outside of comfort zones, and we create the conditions for that deliberately. That means clear expectations, honest feedback, visible performance, and a culture where doing more is recognised and rewarded.

You will be supported, coached, and challenged in equal measure. We do not manage people down to the lowest standard; we set a high bar, show you what it looks like, and back you to reach it.

If you want a business that will hold you to your potential, this is it. If you want an easy ride, this is not.

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day will include, but is not limited to:

Business Development

  • Identify, target, and convert new client accounts within your specialist market.
  • Build relationships with hiring managers, group leaders, and decision-makers.
  • Negotiate terms of business and represent GVC’s value proposition confidently.
  • Proactively develop your client base through outbound calls, emails, and market insight.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings, pitches, and industry events.

Candidate Management

  • Source, engage, and build a pipeline of active and passive veterinary professionals.
  • Conduct thorough candidate registrations, understanding motivations, not just qualifications.
  • Match candidates to roles with precision, not just availability.
  • Manage candidates through the full process: briefing, interview prep, offer management, and aftercare.
  • Reference all your candidates.
  • Build a market reputation as a recruiter candidates trust and return to.

Delivery & Standards

  • Manage a high volume of outbound activity daily. Calls are your primary tool.
  • Consistently hit weekly KPIs: CVs sent, unique candidates to market, client outreach activity.
  • Meet and exceed agreed monthly GP targets.
  • Keep your database accurate, up-to-date, and commercially useful.
  • Know your numbers. GVC operates a real-time reporting system and you are expected to engage with it actively, not just at the end of the month. Your figures are your business; own them.
  • Use your data to make decisions: where to focus, when to push, what is working, and what is not. The best performers on this team are the ones who understand their pipeline as well as they understand their market.
  • Operate with the professionalism and integrity that GVC’s reputation is built on.

What We’re Looking For

We hire on mindset first. Skills can be developed. The following cannot be trained into someone:

  • You think like a business owner. You treat your desk as your own enterprise, you do not wait for job orders to land or candidates to appear. You identify opportunities, act on them, and take personal ownership of your results the way an entrepreneur takes ownership of their business.
  • You take ownership, of your results, your development, and your mistakes.
  • You are driven by outcomes and uncomfortable with mediocrity.
  • You are a communicator. You prefer to pick up the phone and build relationships.
  • You are coachable and actively seek feedback rather than avoiding it.
  • You are competitive, with yourself as much as with others.
  • You operate with integrity. Always.
  • You set goals and you work backwards from them.
  • You thrive in a high-performing, accountability culture.

Recruitment experience is preferred but not essential. What is essential is that you can demonstrate the above, with evidence.

What You’ll Get

We reward performance. We also invest in people who are committed to growing with us.

Salary

  • $60,000 – $85,000 depending on experience + commission

OTE with Commission

  • First-year OTE: $100,000 (Uncapped commission) upon achieving minimum target performance
  • Second-year OTE: $141,000 + Uncapped Commission

Progression
GVC has a defined progression pathway from Recruiter through to Senior Recruiter, Lead, and into Management. Progression is performance and skill based, not time-served. Criteria are transparent and agreed upfront. You will know exactly what hitting the next level looks like.

GVC operates to a clear performance standard from Day 1. Before you start, you will be given a defined framework of activity targets and milestones that build progressively over time. You will always know exactly what good looks like and what is expected of you at every stage. These are not temporary standards — they are the habits and behaviours that define how the best people build their careers here.
