Veterinary Surgeon – High-Caseload Hospital, Exceptional Clinical Depth – Cambridgeshire – £45,000–£65,000 DOE
An outstanding opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join one of the most clinically rich hospital environments in the region — where development doesn't just happen over time, it accelerates. 🚀
About the Practice
This RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in Cambridgeshire is supported by five branch practices across the region and operates at a level of clinical depth that is genuinely rare in first-opinion practice.
The hospital is purpose-built for a high caseload and exceptionally well equipped, including:
- Advanced imaging and digital radiography
- Full endoscopy suite — gastroscopy, bronchoscopy and rigid endoscopy
- Laparoscopy and dental radiography
- Comprehensive anaesthetic monitoring
- Dedicated feline facilities — Gold ISFM Cat Friendly accredited 🐱
What truly sets this practice apart is its clinical density. The 26-vet team spans the hospital and branch network and includes multiple certificate holders and advanced practitioners across Medicine, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Cardiology, ECC, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging and Dentistry. Cases are discussed, challenged and progressed collectively — this is a genuinely integrated clinical team, not a siloed one.
A dedicated twilight and night service means day vets can focus entirely on progressive daytime clinical work, with no routine out-of-hours commitment.
About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position working 4 x 9-hour days, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday) and no routine OOH.
The caseload is busy, varied and consistently moving — with structured rounds and case discussions built into the working day, alongside monthly in-house CPD and a strong culture of shared learning. This is a role for a vet who wants to stay busy, stay challenged, and build clinical confidence at pace.
What They're Looking For
They are looking for an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with ideally 2–3 years of UK small animal experience, who is confident, proactive and thrives in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong clinical thinker who enjoys case work-up, collaborative decision-making, and is genuinely motivated to develop at pace. Certificate interest or ambition is strongly welcomed and actively supported.
