Veterinary Surgeon – Tier 3 Hospital, Certificate Support, No OOH – Nottinghamshire – £40,000–£70,000 DOE

A brilliant opportunity to join a well-established, highly experienced small animal hospital team in the East Midlands — with exceptional facilities, a genuinely multi-disciplinary clinical environment, and no out-of-hours requirement. 🐾

About the Practice

This RCVS Tier 3 hospital in Nottinghamshire sits in an interesting space — operating as something of a hybrid between first-opinion and referral, thanks to the depth of its clinical team and the quality of its facilities. It has built a fantastic local reputation over many years and has a large, experienced team of 16 vets, 20 nurses and 19 support staff.

The certificate holder presence here is exceptional, spanning Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia and Dermatology — with additional vets actively working towards certificates in Surgery, Imaging, Internal Medicine and Endoscopy. The surgical team regularly carries out complex procedures including BOAS surgery, TPLO/CCWO, patella surgeries, fracture repair, cholecystectomy, liver lobe resection and TECAs.

The facilities match the team's ambition:

  • Brand new CT scanner recently installed
  • High-end ultrasound, digital radiography and dental radiography
  • Endoscopy, rhinoscopy and bronchoscopy
  • Laparoscopy, electrocautery, tonometry and slit lamp
  • Comprehensive in-house laboratory including T4, SDMA, cortisol, bile acids, CpLI/FpLI, coags, urine sediments and Imagyst for rapid haematology and cytology
  • Access to laser therapy, acupuncture and physiotherapy

A dedicated OOH team means no out-of-hours commitment for this role. 🙌

About the Role

This is a permanent position available full or part-time, covering a day rota including weekends. The role would suit a confident small animal vet with routine experience — and candidates with a medical bias are particularly encouraged to apply. Certificate support is available for the right candidate.

Why Long Eaton?

Long Eaton is perfectly positioned midway between Nottingham and Derby — two vibrant cities with excellent amenities, great nightlife, and strong cultural scenes. The town itself has its own train station with regular services into both Nottingham and Derby, and sits just minutes from junctions 24 and 25 of the M1, making it one of the most commutable locations in the East Midlands. East Midlands Airport is also just a short drive away — ideal for those who like to make the most of their time off. 🚆 The surrounding area offers a lovely mix of urban convenience and accessible countryside, with the Peak District within easy reach.

What They're Looking For

They are looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon with small animal experience who is comfortable with routine clinical work. A medical bias is particularly welcomed, as is an interest in developing further through certificate study — which the practice will actively support.
