Veterinary Surgeon – Varied Caseload, No OOH – West London – £66,000–£70,000 DOE
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, close-knit small animal practice in one of West London's most vibrant and desirable locations — with genuine clinical freedom, a brilliant team and no out-of-hours. 🐾
About the Practice
This busy, well-established small animal practice sits in the heart of Chiswick's bustling high street — surrounded by independent cafés, restaurants and boutiques, and with an incredibly loyal local client base built up over many years.
The team is young, enthusiastic and genuinely collaborative, with a strong ethos of mutual support and continuous learning. Clinical discussions are actively encouraged, and you'll always have experienced colleagues to bounce ideas off. The practice benefits from regular visiting advanced certificate holders in surgery, adding further clinical depth and variety.
Facilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, modern dental equipment and comprehensive surgical and anaesthetic monitoring — giving the team everything needed to confidently investigate and treat a wide range of cases.
The nursing team is equally impressive — three RVNs, one of whom is a Clinical Coach, with an SVN joining soon. Nurses run their own consultations and schedule procedures, freeing vets to focus on delivering excellent clinical care.
About the Role
This is a permanent position working 42 hours per week, available across 4 or 5 days. There is no out-of-hours requirement, and only 1 bank holiday per year (with TOIL). 🙌
The weekend rota is 1 in 3, consisting of short consult-only shifts — Saturday 8am–1pm and Sunday 10am–4pm. Sole charge is limited to weekends only.
The role offers a genuine 50/50 mix of consulting and surgery, with the freedom to work up your own cases and build lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- First opinion consultations, diagnostics and medical case management
- Routine and more advanced soft tissue surgery alongside dentistry
- Working cases up to a high clinical standard
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture
Why Chiswick?
Chiswick is one of West London's most sought-after and characterful areas — known for its beautiful tree-lined streets, thriving independent high street and strong community feel. 🌿 The area is well served by the District line at Chiswick Park and Gunnersbury stations, with fast connections into central London in around 20–25 minutes. Kew Gardens and Richmond are just a short distance away, and the Thames Path offers wonderful walks on the doorstep. For those travelling by road, the A4 and M4 provide easy access in and out of the city. It's a genuinely lovely part of London to spend your working day.
What They're Looking For
They are looking for an MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years of UK small animal experience, who is confident across consultations, diagnostics and routine surgery. A genuine team player who builds strong client and colleague relationships, and is passionate about continuing to develop professionally. An interest in internal medicine would be a welcome bonus, though not essential.
